The Agile Practice Specialist’s key responsibility is to facilitate the effective application of Agile processes and methodologies. Within Cogeco, the candidate will pioneer the introduction of Agile methodologies to lead projects that traditionally were driven using waterfall techniques. The Agile Practice Specialist will enable cross-functional teams to develop solutions by applying Agile principles and methods, provide guidance to the various teams within the department on how to apply Agile practices, as well as provide ongoing coaching and support.
Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values
Guiding the team on how to get the most out of self organization
Guiding the team on self organizing to fill in the gaps left in their Agile/Scrum practices
Coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable for the team and organization.
Guide the team to remove impediments.
Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and problems solved.
Run key agile ceremonies, e.g., daily huddles, backlog grooming, sprint planning and sprint retros to actively manage risks and external dependencies.
Develop and support story creation, facilitate story breakdowns, and capture estimates.
Track Agile metrics (e.g. velocity, defects, sprint goals, etc.)
Manage agile project management tools.
Help product owner to maintain the product backlog(s) ensuring the tasks in backlog are relevant to the project schedule and targeted epics.
Facilitate team activities for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team.
Responsible for managing agile processes and coordination of the agile team using the corporate prescribed methodology.
Manage flow and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection, proper use and adaptation of processes.
Ensure that backlog, resources and desired flow are aligned with project timelines and corporate expectations.

Bachelor’s Degree or combination of relevant education and experience.
Certification required : First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I) or equivalent Agile certification(s).
Experience playing the Agile Practice Specialist role for at least three (3) years for a software development team that was diligently applying Agile principles, practices, and theory.
Minimum of eight (8) years successfully delivering technical projects with experience in software development and/or project management preferred
Previous experience as a team lead
Experience in the telecommunications industry is an asset
Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement and empowerment.
Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Kanban, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc
Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
Strong customer and business orientation.
Strong presentation and technical documentation skills.
Good understanding and awareness of current technology trends
Ability to be proactive, provide creative solutions to problems as they occur
Ability to interact with senior business level leads (VP and Director levels)
Bilingualism English/French is an asset
